Restraint checks and adjustments

Visit any Kidsafe ACT location for a free* check or adjustment. No appointment necessary and no need to call beforehand unless you have more than 2 seats to be checked.

What does a restraint check and adjustment involve?

• Checking the seat for damage, wear and making sure it's within age
• Adjusting the harness and/or headrest to your child’s size
• Making sure the tether, seatbelt/isofix are firmly attached and adjusted to manufacturer's instructions 
• Adjusting the recline of the seat, padding and cover to make sure it's comfortable for your little one
• Showing you how to use and adjust the restraint yourself

We will also provide advice on whether the seat is suitable for the child's age and size and whether they have outgrown the seat (or will soon).  

​If we recommend any extra parts or accessories we will explain what they are for and what they cost.

*There is a $30 fee for checks where there are 3 or more restraints in a car as these checks take more time and can sometimes be tricky. Appointments are preferred for checks on 3 or more seats to ensure we have the time needed for the check.
