Child Car Seat Checks and Adjustments

What does a Car Seat Check and Adjustment involve?
  • Checking the seat for damage, wear and making sure it's within it's 10 year life span
  • Adjusting the harness and/or headrest to your child’s size
  • Making sure the tether, seatbelt/isofix are firmly attached and adjusted according to the manufacturer's instructions 
  • Adjusting the recline of the seat, padding and cover to make sure it's comfortable for your little one
  • Showing you how to use and adjust the restraint yourself
We will also provide advice on whether the seat is suitable for the child's age and size and whether they have outgrown the seat (or will soon). 
  • ​If we recommend any extra parts or accessories to ensure your Child Car Seat is installed as safely as possible, we will explain what they are for and what they cost before fitting them.

Car Seat Check (for up to 2 Child Car Seats) $30.00*
Check for 3 or more Child Car Seats $75.00**
**IF YOU HAVE 3 CAR SEATS IN THE CAR - IT MUST BE A 3-ACROSS APPOINTMENT EVEN IF YOU ONLY WANT US TO CHECK OR INSTALL 1 CAR SEAT. PLEASE CALL US TO BOOK THIS APPOINTMENT. 
A check on car seats with other seats in the car, especially 3 children in one row of the car is a lot more time and harder on the fitter's body.
There are more technical issues to consider:
- The space in vehicle itself
- Ensuring there is no excessive compression of seats  (which over time can cause damage and reduce the safety of seats)
- Does the combination of the seats work safely?
- Does the configuration of the seats work safely? 
So while it may seem like the price jumps considerably for just 1 extra seat, there are very valid safety reasons for this. Kidsafe ACT aims to ensure the safety of your children. We don't take short cuts and our service fees reflect this.
Free Car Seat Checks
Free Car Seat Checks are available to anyone with a Pension Card, Health Care Card, Roundabout Voucher, or written referral from a Community Organisation. You can request a Free Check appointment below via the contact form.
If you do not hold one of the relevent concession cards and do not have a referral, you can apply for an exceptional cisrcumstances Free Check by emailing our CEO at [email protected]

    Please note that free services are not available on a drop-in basis. We are limited by funding to the number of free services we can provide each day. Requests must be booked using the contact form below and your booking confirmation and appointment details received, before coming in to Kidsafe.
